Also discussed are other topics to help beginners build a solid astrological foundation.

Make a Reading Appointment

If you would like a reading with one of our speakers,
please email the program chair or call the ASC InfoLine 860.568.8617 to check for availability.

Please book your appointment at least two weeks in advance.

This Year's Program

If you are unfamiliar with terms used in these descriptions, we recommend you attend our pre-lecture orientation at 6:15 PM prior to Thursday’s lecture, when a member of the ASC explains terms and concepts anticipated in the lecture or teaches other building blocks of astrology. You may also wish to attend a “basics of astrology” class at our New Age Fair.

SEPTEMBER

Lecture: Thursday, September 17, 2015 7:00 PM
Matt Carnicelli

“And I await the resurrection of the dead…”
The Quincentennial Return of Neptune to Pisces and Pluto to Capricorn

Every 500 years, Pluto and Neptune initiate a world-shaking dance as Pluto ingresses into Capricorn, the phase of its cycle associated with the deconstruction of authoritarian structures, and Neptune enters Pisces. This lecture will explore how the apocalyptic expectations implicit in this dance may ultimately require the death and resurrection of our current collective paradigm.

Matthew Carnicelli is a mundane astrologer and historical researcher with over 25 years of experience. He is a former board member of ISAR and ProSig and the creator and moderator of the ISAR Financial Yahoo discussion group.

OCTOBER

Lecture: Thursday, October 15, 2015 7:00 PM
Gary Caton

Making the Most of Mercury Retrograde

Through the lens of Mercury's visual or synodic cycle, we can understand the Seasons of Mercury and the best use of his retrogrades. Outlining the four-month cycle of Mercury's visible appearance as morning and then evening star, you will see and understand what awareness and activities are favored during each of these seasons.

Workshop: Sat., October 17, 2015, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Gary Caton

The Mercury Elemental Year

With this lesser-known but extremely powerful technique, you will see the underlying patterns behind Mercury’s three retrogrades each year and learn to harness their transformative power. Each of us was born with an unconscious preference for communicating via one element more than others. These areas in our chart are deeply susceptible to the power of symbols, where our ideas, images, and words matter most.

Gary Caton is an eclectic astrologer who embraces an organic process-oriented approach of spiritual exploration, growth and transformation via the Living Sky. He earned a B.S. in Counseling from ODU, and has developed a unique multi-discipline Astrology practice over 20 years. He resides in Asheville in western North Carolina near the Smoky Mountains and the ancient homeland of the Cherokee.

Astrology of Aging

As we grow old, we begin to express attributes more closely aligned with our ascendant. The phrase "being comfortable in one's own skin" seems to apply. The progressed Sun and Moon also show significant characteristics of the evolved individual.

Chris Flisher has spent years researching, understanding, and practicing astrology ever since he had his first chart done at age 20. Awarded a "Top Ten Astrologers" award, he is celebrating his ninth continuous year of broadcasting as the host of the weekly radio show "Turning Of The Wheel," now also shown on cable access television.

Being & Becoming:  The Tantra of Astrology & Yoga

In Yogic traditions, an abiding intelligence pervades and organizes all forms of life. Our astrological charts provide penetrating insights into the role we each play: our dharma. Yoga offers specific techniques to "yoke" the parts of the chart and navigate planetary weather.

Tracking the Moon’s Nodes

The nodal axis travels in its natural sign opposition backward through the zodiac. Its various cycles show their effects at specific ages and through particular events in our lives. With your natal chart in mind, we will fine-tune the Moon’s Nodes in transit by tracking their present alignment in the Virgo/Pisces axis as they head for the Leo/Aquarius axis in April of 2017.

Agneta Borstein was born in Sweden and moved to the United States in 1977. Incorporating her BA in business with metaphysics, she owned an alternative bookstore for 21 years. After many years as a professional astrologer, she merged her education in advanced shamanism and healing into her private practice, workshops, and lectures. Agneta is the author of The Moon’s Nodes, a Churning Process of the Soul and is a past president and a current officer of the ASC.

APRIL

Lecture: Thursday, April 21, 2016 7:00 PM
Gary Christen

The Whole Sky

The Greeks centered astrology on the ecliptic and older cultures focused on the horizon. While the zodiac is great for using the planets in horoscopes, what about the rest of the heavens? This talk focuses on things that are not on the ecliptic, such as fixed stars, and shows how to integrate them into new chart forms. This talk is derived from ideas underlying Symmetrical Astrology.

Workshop: Sat., April 23, 2016, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Gary Christen
Symmetrical Astrology Applied - Hands On!

Symmetrical Astrology points to the future of astrological ideas and technique. This workshop focuses on the parts of Symmetrical Astrology that make it different from orthodox astrology. Planetary pictures, dials, psychological found-ations and recommendations for organizing your work make this workshop suitable for all astrologers who want to learn new and easy ways to get the most out of your work.

Gary Christen is a practitioner of Uranian Astrology (now Symmetrical Astrology) and has been amazing astrology audiences with his accurate forecasts of world events and trends for more than 30 years. An astrologer since his teens, he was awarded an accredited B.A. degree in astrology (Livingston College, Rutgers University, 1974). Gary co-founded Astrolabe, Inc.

The Predictive Power of Planetary Stations

Retrograde and direct stations of planets are among the best forecasting methods, especially when these sensitive degrees hit a planet or point in your chart. We will go over the retrograde cycles of the planets and look at case studies where those stations, which can often linger for a few months, offer the best timing for an event or cycle in your life.

Ronnie Gale Dreyer is an inter-nationally known astrological consultant, lecturer and teacher of Western and Indian (Vedic) astrology based in New York City. She has authored several astrology books and numerous articles and also delivers lectures for astrology groups and conferences internationally.
