Blinded by the Light: Planets Conjunct the Sun
Of the hundreds of planetary aspects we astrologers use every day, there is only one which renders a planet invisible: a conjunction with the Sun. Despite the frequency with which this occurs, there is disagreement about how to interpret it. Does visibility matter? Traditional astrologers certainly thought so; modern astrologers, not so much. Join Linea in a fascinating exploration of “combustion,” as this position was traditionally called. Both classical and modern views will be explained, as well as the psychological expression and resolution for this common chart condition.
Workshop: Saturday, October 17, 2020, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

All those triangles and squares in the middle of charts – what do they mean? Learn about the major aspect patterns: the stellium, grand trines and kites, T-squares, grand crosses, yods and mystic rectangles. This presentation, geared to the intermediate astrology students, focuses on using elements and modes both to identify these patterns and interpret them. We will look at plenty of charts to see real-life examples of aspect patterns in action. This workshop includes many additional considerations, examples, suggestions and clues in chart analysis.

The Great Jupiter and Saturn Conjunction
Approximately every 20 years, the two outermost visible planets of our solar system, Jupiter and Saturn, meet in a so-called “Great Conjunction.” These two bodies are known as the “social planets.” Since ancient times, astrologers have noted that the cyclic interactions of Jupiter and Saturn correlate with world economic and political cycles and with changes in mass psychologythat influence the wider culture and the very structure of society. Jupiter tends to expand and open, whereas Saturn contracts, crystallizes and sets firm limits. When these two contrary tendencies unite every 20 years, the world goes through a period which challenges the restrictions of past confining social structures to make way for a fresh re-organization of society. The effects of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, colored by the elementary nature of the zodiac sign in which it occurs (Fire, Air, Earth, Water), are felt on many levels of society, including politics, religion, international relations, human rights, education, health, environment and the law. In this lecture, we will review the history of this concept in traditional astrology and consider the implication of the contemporary “Great Conjunction,” which will occur on December 21, 2020, in Aquarius of the tropical zodiac.

Your Life is in your hands, with Astrology in Mind
Palmistry is the science and art of knowing self and other through a visual and tactile examination of hands. Our hands are topographical maps of our character in past, present and future. Hands reveal our current and major life issues, talents, abilities, challenges and the degrees to which we are fulfilling our potentials. Hands provide detailed information about our values, thinking, feelings, health, relationships, sexuality, creativity, philosophy, career, purpose, hopes, dreams and spirituality. Palmistry is simple and fun. Details provide valuable insight into a person, but the meaning of any detail can change depending on the question asked and a person’s character. The danger in interpreting details out of context is in substituting one form of pre-determinism for another by reducing individuality to cookbook formulas. Many astrology and most palmistry books do that.
Mark Seltman has read tens of thousands of hands of people of every age, gender, race, color, size, shape, career and socio-economic level. He has read hands of celebrities, billionaires, corporate executives and people who work for them. Mr. Seltman has been the captain of the “psychics” at special events like Mike Bloomberg’s company picnic on Randall’s Island, and has read the hands of Martha Stewart and many other celebrities and their families. For two years, Mark has also examined hundreds of hands of court committed murderers in a forensic psychiatric hospital for criminally insane people in New York City. Astrologers tend to focus on aspects dividing the zodiac by 2, 4 and 8 for jolts into action, and 3 and 6 for gentler prods. So, what about 5? Quintiles and bi-quintiles (fractions of one-fifth and two-fifths) are associated with the Venus-Earth-Sun interplay and represent lovelier qualities like luck and talent. When they form a triangle, they really amp up their positive prospects! We’ll explore their potentials in natal charts and using various forecasting techniques.
Fascinated by lesser-used tools in the astrological kit, Janet uses quintiles, Eris and the Vertex in serving an international clientele. She’s been published in The Mountain Astrologer, presented at UACs, and hosts Looking Up on West Hartford’s cable access station. She holds Level II certification from NCGR and has been a member of ASC for 42 years, serving as president at the millennium! Check out her work and the free Study Booth at AstrologyBooth.com.

Relationships and Astrology
Through various astrological techniques, relationships in our daily lives are something we might take for granted. An intriguing part of Keys to Understanding the Davison chart, the Relationship Chart is what Dorothy calls the Davison chart the “Birthday of the Relationship.” Why, because its calculation renders a chart exactly like all natal charts that astrologers are used to viewing. We will cover the keys to interpretation. Dorothy is in the process of writing a book on her years of research on the Davison Relationships chart.

The Rhythms of Your Life: Honing Your Forecasting Skills
As astrologers, rather than using forecasting tools to make firm predictions, we do our best work when we articulate the processes that can take place under various transits, progressions or directions. In doing so, students and clients recognize the “season” they’re in and become aware of personal celestial cycles. This talk will offer several tools, including “Define and Connect,” to simplify the process of interpretation.
Solar Arc Directions: An Interactive Session
Frank will demonstrate how Solar Arcs are among the most powerful and reliable of astrological measurements. He’ll show how to pinpoint landmark periods in your life. Then, he’ll work with some horoscopes from the audience to spot, define and articulate a range of Directions that will (hopefully!) amaze everyone with their simplicity and accuracy. If you want to enhance your forecasting skills, this is the talk to come to! Solar Arcs provide information about past and present circumstances, as well as future possibilities. Starting a consultation with Solar Arcs can help to break the ice and gain a client’s trust. Join Frank to learn how to use and decode a remarkable tool that reminds us that every moment is fascinating and full of meaning.
