Anthony Louis
The Great Jupiter and Saturn Conjunction

Approximately every 20 years, the two outermost visible planets of our solar system, Jupiter and Saturn, meet in a so-called “Great Conjunction.” These two bodies are known as the “social planets.” Since ancient times, astrologers have noted that the cyclic interactions of Jupiter and Saturn correlate with world economic and political cycles and with changes in mass psychologythat influence the wider culture and the very structure of society. Jupiter tends to expand and open, whereas Saturn contracts, crystallizes and sets firm limits. When these two contrary tendencies unite every 20 years, the world goes through a period which challenges the restrictions of past confining social structures to make way for a fresh re-organization of society. The effects of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, colored by the elementary nature of the zodiac sign in which it occurs (Fire, Air, Earth, Water), are felt on many levels of society, including politics, religion, international relations, human rights, education, health, environment and the law. In this lecture, we will review the history of this concept in traditional astrology and consider the implication of the contemporary “Great Conjunction,” which will occur on December 21, 2020, in Aquarius of the tropical zodiac.

Anthony Louis is a retired psychiatrist who has been a serious student of astrology since his teenage years. He has published several books on astrology, tarot and other forms of divination, and has also lectured internationally on these topics. His main areas of interest include Hellenistic and Persian astrology, the works of 17th century astrologers William Lilly and Morin de Villefranche, horary astrology, primary directions, and other predictive techniques. He is currently working with Llewellyn publications on a new book about horary astrology. He has also been trying to learn more about Jyotish, the astrology of India. Even after many decades of reading and study, Anthony feels that he has just scratched the surface of this vast area of knowledge. Find Anthony online at tonylouis.wordpress.com

Sunday, November 22 Noon – 4:00 PM EST on Zoom
Our October workshop was cancelled and we wanted to present a workshop this fall, so we have arranged with Eileen McCabe to be our teacher to examine the influences of Jupiter and Saturn in our individual charts. Details will be announced soon.

Mark Seltman

Your Life is in your hands, with Astrology in Mind

Palmistry is the science and art of knowing self and other through a visual and tactile examination of hands. Our hands are topographical maps of our character in past, present and future. Hands reveal our current and major life issues, talents, abilities, challenges and the degrees to which we are fulfilling our potentials. Hands provide detailed information about our values, thinking, feelings, health, relationships, sexuality, creativity, philosophy, career, purpose, hopes, dreams and spirituality. Palmistry is simple and fun. Details provide valuable insight into a person, but the meaning of any detail can change depending on the question asked and a person’s character. The danger in interpreting details out of context is in substituting one form of pre-determinism for another by reducing individuality to cookbook formulas. Many astrology and most palmistry books do that.

Mark Seltman has read tens of thousands of hands of people of every age, gender, race, color, size, shape, career and socio-economic level. He has read hands of celebrities, billionaires, corporate executives and people who work for them. Mr. Seltman has been the captain of the “psychics” at special events like Mike Bloomberg’s company picnic on Randall’s Island, and has read the hands of Martha Stewart and many other celebrities and their families. For two years, Mark has also examined hundreds of hands of court committed murderers in a forensic psychiatric hospital for criminally insane people in New York City. Janet Booth
Quintile Magic

Astrologers tend to focus on aspects dividing the zodiac by 2, 4 and 8 for jolts into action, and 3 and 6 for gentler prods. So, what about 5? Quintiles and bi-quintiles (fractions of one-fifth and two-fifths) are associated with the Venus-Earth-Sun interplay and represent lovelier qualities like luck and talent. When they form a triangle, they really amp up their positive prospects! We’ll explore their potentials in natal charts and using various forecasting techniques.

Fascinated by lesser-used tools in the astrological kit, Janet uses quintiles, Eris and the Vertex in serving an international clientele. She’s been published in The Mountain Astrologer, presented at UACs, and hosts Looking Up on West Hartford’s cable access station. She holds Level II certification from NCGR and has been a member of ASC for 42 years, serving as president at the millennium! Check out her work and the free Study Booth at AstrologyBooth.com.

Frank Clifford
The Rhythms of Your Life: Honing Your Forecasting Skills

As astrologers, rather than using forecasting tools to make firm predictions, we do our best work when we articulate the processes that can take place under various transits, progressions or directions. In doing so, students and clients recognize the “season” they’re in and become aware of personal celestial cycles. This talk will offer several tools, including “Define and Connect,” to simplify the process of interpretation.

Frank Clifford
Solar Arc Directions: An Interactive Session

Frank will demonstrate how Solar Arcs are among the most powerful and reliable of astrological measurements. He’ll show how to pinpoint landmark periods in your life. Then, he’ll work with some horoscopes from the audience to spot, define and articulate a range of Directions that will (hopefully!) amaze everyone with their simplicity and accuracy. If you want to enhance your forecasting skills, this is the talk to come to! Solar Arcs provide information about past and present circumstances, as well as future possibilities. Starting a consultation with Solar Arcs can help to break the ice and gain a client’s trust. Join Frank to learn how to use and decode a remarkable tool that reminds us that every moment is fascinating and full of meaning.
